The Portuguese Society of Research in Mathematics Education – SPIEM recognises the importance of privacy. We do not give your information to third parties.
The website www.spiem.pt is owned by the Sociedade Portuguesa de Investigação em Educação Matemática, with its headquarters in Lisbon at Alameda da Universidade, 1649-013 Lisboa, Portugal.

1. Information gathering

Whenever necessary, personal data will be collected to allow communication, access to exclusive documentation or registration in activities promoted by SPIEM. The use of these data will be made in compliance with the legislation applicable to the Data Protection Policy imposed by the CNPD (National Commission for Data Protection), in accordance with the Decree of Law No. 67/98 of 26 October, in order to ensure the confidentiality and security of personal data provided.
All information collected is provided on a voluntary basis either via the website, online forms, questionnaires, promotion of activities and events. SPIEM collects personal data such as names, addresses, emails, phone numbers, IP address. The entity responsible for the collection and processing of personal data is SPIEM.

2. Use of Collected Data

SPIEM commits to comply with the rules of personal data processing in force in Portugal.
The information obtained may be used by SPIEM to send information about Mathematics Education to its users and readers.
The data collected is intended exclusively for SPIEM’s use, in order to follow up on requests made through this website, guaranteeing, as far as current technology allows, the privacy and protection of user data.
SPIEM may disclose your personal information to other companies, such as carriers, when it is necessary to do so in order to provide you with a product or service.

3. Right of Access, Rectification, Cancellation and Opposition

In accordance with the Law 67/98 of 26 October, any person can request access to their personal data, and be informed of its content, as well as demand its rectification, updating or request its destruction, by written request addressed to SPIEM to the email address: [email protected]

SPIEM is committed to adopting the necessary security measures to guarantee the safeguarding of users’ personal data against possible misuse or unauthorised access.
Nevertheless, as the internet is not a 100% secure means of communication, SPIEM cannot guarantee the security of any information that it divulges online, nor be responsible for losses or damages caused to the user as a consequence of the loss of confidentiality of the information.

5. Responsibility

On this web page users may find links that redirect them to other web pages outside the domain of SPIEM’s servers that may themselves collect data or request personal information. This Privacy Policy does not apply to third party sites, so please read their Privacy Policy, for which we are not responsible.

6. Agreement to the Privacy Policy

It is understood that you accept the conditions of this privacy policy by entering your details. The completion of the forms implies consent by the user to the automated treatment and use of the data in accordance with the privacy conditions described in this document.

SPIEM reserves the right, at any time, to update or revise the present Privacy Policy in order to adjust it to possible legislative changes and/or other constraints. Any change made will be published here, so the user should visit this area frequently in order to keep informed about the Privacy Policy in force.
